Congrats Jim Rice...Again.

The Red Sox Wednesday announced plans to retire Hall of Famer Jim Rice’s uniform No. 14 as a tribute to his exceptional career in a Red Sox uniform and in honor of his induction into The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY. The ceremony will take place prior to the Red Sox-A's game at Fenway Park on Tuesday.
It will be the seventh number to be retired by the franchise, joining Bobby Doerr (1), Joe Cronin (4), Johnny Pesky (6), Carl Yastrzemski (8), Ted Williams (9), and Carlton Fisk (27). The number of Jackie Robinson (42) has been retired by all teams in Major League Baseball.

You Go, Lugo.

Finally, he's gone! The man that was said to be the great hope at shortstop. The man that the Sox have been looking for since Nomie left town. The man we paid an armand a leg for and then he pretty much injured his arm, leg, wrist, hand, back, and so on and so fourth! Julie Lugo, we hardly knew you! I think Theo is finally seeing that Lugo wasnt the best man to drop $40Mil on. We would have been better keeping Edgar "Rent-a-wreck" Rentaria or even Alex Gonzalez (the man can play defense!!).

Happy to see Lugo gone. Wish it was sooner...I'm just happy we got more than just a "plyer to be named later" or "cash considerations". We actually got a player thats somewhat known. Outfielder Chris Duncan, welcome to the Red Sox, the Pawtucket Red Sox. The big boys up north will see you in September when rosters expand!

Everyone wants the Baby!!

According to Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports, the Nets are among the teams interested in Celtics' restricted free-agent forward Glen Davis. The Nets still have their mid-level exception available. Spears reports that three different teams have been rebuffed in attempts to work a sign-and-trade with the Celtics for Davis. The report also said that the Celtics proposed a trade of Davis, Gabe Pruitt and J.R. Giddens to the Pistons for Jason Maxiell and a first-round pick, but that Detroit turned down the offer.

I dont see why the C's would even consider giving up Giddens, Pruitt and Davis for a schlump like Maxiell and a lousy 1st round pick. Detriot's gonna be good this year, so it's not like they are going to have a nasty pick in round #1.
Big Baby did one hell of a job this past season by playing his ass off and getting all these teams interested in him. Spurs, Magic, Cavs (at one point), Hornets, Pistons and now the Nets. I'd like to hang on to the young fella, but if we can get a big name or something, i'll give him up! Sorry big dogg.

Well, he was off to a good start...

The Red Sox will place Tim Wakefield on the disabled list with a lower back strain. In his place, Clay Buchholz will be recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket and will start Wednesday's game against the Rangers. Wakefield tweaked his back in a recent side session. He has been placed on the D.L. retroactive to July 18. Red Sox manager Terry Francona told reporters that the injury is not to the knuckleballer's shoulder.
Buchholz, who earned the win in the first Red Sox game of the second half, will be pitching with four days of rest. He allowed one run in 5.2 innings against the Blue Jays on Friday.

Question?!?!

Is it a good thing to have the Winter Classic at America's most beloved ballpark, Fenway Park?!
